peter james play review

Peter James is the UK’s number one bestselling author of Crime and Thriller novels and his stories are so good that four previous books have been adapted into plays, successfully thrilling audiences around UK theatres.

These exciting plays are based on Peter’s award-winning books, but from various perspectives, not just of Roy Grace, a fictional, Brighton based Detective Superintendent played by Harry Long.

‘Looking Good Dead’ is a story where a regular guy, Tom Bryce, tried to do a good deed, yet managed to end up with his whole family’s life in danger.

Hard working Tom is married to his Vodka loving wife, Kelly, their eldest son managed to escape the family arguing and went off travelling, leaving his younger, teenaged half-brother, Max to deal with the noise of his parents and none of this got easier, the day Tom found a USB stick on a train.

Rather than hand in the USB to lost property, he thought it would have been better to take home and open on his laptop to see if he can find some contact details of the owner, instead the Bryce family was dragged into a very dark and dangerous world, where victims are left ‘Looking Good Dead!’

looking good dead play review

Starring Adam Woodyatt and Laurie Brett, it was quite strange at first watching them as Tom & Kelly Bryce, but you quickly get into the play and forget their ‘Eastenders’ characters, being Ian Beale and one of his many suffering wives, Jane! They played a great love-hate, married couple, where one of them works really hard, is doing what they can to build a business and the other spends the money fast and drinks Vodka for breakfast. Their teenage son Max wants to get away from it all and is desperate to go travelling with his brother.

‘Looking Good Dead’ is about a dysfunctional family and their personal dramas, a terrible dark, sad and scary world, which gatecrashes theirs, making the right decisions whether to involve the Police and Roy Grace and his team, working together to solve the case.
