35 Easy Elf on the Shelf Ideas for Kids.

We love everything about Christmas! The whole month of December is nothing but a magical build up of all the presents (everyone’s but the kids) magically appearing, all wrapped under the tree, then completely disappearing a few days before the big day itself, all to be checked off against Santa’s list & then waiting excitedly for the big man to deliver to everyone’s gifts on Christmas Eve! The erecting of the tree, the nativity, school performances, Pantos, School parties, seeking out Santa, writing lists, visiting friends and family, Church on Christmas Eve for the Christingle service & after our rituals of food, mulled wine, family & the surprise Christmas eve box loaded with the perfect eve activities!! … I’m getting excited writing this and it seems ages away still!

I think it is pretty safe to say, we absolutely LOVE the magic of Christmas & the fun our family has together. So much so, that our Teen doesn’t even like missing a thing and loves to be included on every detail.

One of our newest rituals and what our kids love to jump up, (too early) in the morning for, is the newly popular Elf on the Shelf shenanigans!

We started this a few years ago and loved it so much that our elf brought an Elf pal to the party too!! Although we couldn’t do every night, it was one of those things where we started a fun thing to do, then either forgot a couple of nights, couldn’t think of something new, or just couldn’t be bothered when it was mid-night and we only remembered just as we got into bed and turned off the lights!!

We think of some pretty funny stuff to do with our Elves, although we do keep it child friendly, so that restricts some ideas, saying this, it is starting to get cheekier now our lad is a pre-teen! But we still needed some inspiration too. It’s easy to think of 4/5 brilliant ones, then everything else seems a bit lame, but the biggest thing I learnt was that the kids don’t actually care how good the findings are, they just love jumping out of bed, drag us up too, then go on the morning hunt to see the cheeky stuff they have been up to through the night!

So, to help anyone with some new ideas, I thought I’d put this together in case you need some extra inspiration, like we do. I’m sure you are all getting up to some fab stuff with your elves too, so please feel free to share any photos with us. We would love to see them & maybe share them next year too!!

Happy Elfing!
