We went along to the wonderful Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End to see "Back to the Future -The Musical" and as a couple who grew-up loving every second of the 1980’s iconic ‘Back to the Future’ movies, we were really excited, but also a little sceptical on how the show could even translate the nostalgic storyline onto the stage! We grew-up in the 80’s and as every great parent should, we regularly inflict all our childhood obsessions onto our poor children, so it was not only us, but our 11 year old lad who had high expectations of the musical … I am very pleased to report, ‘Back to the Future - The Musical’ exceeded all our expectations!
Captivating the audience with its stellar cast, ridiculously jaw-dropping scenery, fabulous songs and energetic performances, the musical stays true to the original movie's essence of the time-traveling adventures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown. Through incredibly impressive stage effects and set design, the audience is taken on a thrilling journey through past, present, and future, making it a must-see for fans of this wonderful cult classic. With its blend of humour, heart, and incredible music, ‘Back to the Future - The Musical’ offers a memorable theatrical experience for both new generations and long-time enthusiasts.
The cast were just outstanding, especially in the portrayal of the much-loved characters of Marty McFly and Doc Brown. Their chemistry on stage was wonderful, bringing an authentic relationship to the iconic duo. The special effects to recreate the time-traveling, adventures on stage, were phenomenal. From the magical DeLorean flying across the stage, to the breathtaking scenery changes, every moment was executed with precision and creativity.
Whether you're a die-hard ‘Back to the Future’ fan or just love a bit of musical theatre, this musical is so worth seeing, especially with the family, as I guarantee you’ll leave with a great feeling of nostalgia, a sense of wonder and both you and the kids will absolutely love it!
